The Community prepares a package of measures for the Region's businessmen affected by the crisis resulting from the invasion of Ukraine

Our member INFO, regional development agency of Murcia Region, is participating in the measure package launched by the regional government for businesses affected by the consequences of Ukraine war.

As part of the package of measures available to companies in the Region of Murcia that may be affected by the crisis resulting from Russia's invasion of Ukraine in order to mitigate a possible negative impact on their production, INFO will organise a direct mission to put companies in the Region in contact with new cereal and sunflower oil suppliers in South America. It is estimated that there are more than 400 companies in the region that could initially be directly impacted by supply problems.

Currently, some 70 regional companies from Murcia export to Ukraine and Russia, worth 47 million euros. With these figures, the data are concerning as the impact on exports, a priori, could be small, but this crisis could have an impact on the local supply chain, as Russia and Ukraine provide 30 percent of European grain, as well as other important raw materials such as aluminium, platinum, nickel, copper and palladium, affirms Valle Miguélez, business director.

Along these lines, a package of measures has been put on the table at today's meeting of the Commission that includes the search for alternative suppliers in South America (both cereal and sunflower oil), as it has been detected that there are more than 400 companies in the Region that could, in principle, suffer the direct impact of the supply problems. Another of the initiatives agreed in this Commission is a line of subsidised guarantees and interest rates for those entrepreneurs who have to resort to financing when facing the change that the break in the supply chain entails.

From EURADA, we want to highlight the importance of agencies as a support for the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the regions, especially, in extreme circumstances like these, showing an example of actions taken by one of our INFO members.
