Agro2Circular is a Horizon 2020 project boosting the upcycling of agri-food wastes through innovative routes of valorisation, leading to high extraction yields, bioactives with the purity and stability required to be used to produce new food, cosmetic and nutraceutical formulation.
After more than a three year journey, the Final Event marked the last step of such an important action. For EURADA, the event was also a special occasion to work closely with INFO Murcia, a valued EURADA member and active partner of the Agro2Circular consortium. Their contribution to the project has been instrumental in linking regional innovation priorities with the project’s circular economy goals, reinforcing the importance of regional development agencies in driving systemic transformation.
Over two days, partners came together to reflect on the project's journey and the groundbreaking work delivered over the past years. The event offered a unique opportunity to delve into the technical progress made and to witness first-hand the tangible outcomes of Agro2Circular’s efforts. On the first day, participants visited key demonstration sites at technological centre, CETEC, the National Technology Center for Canning (CTNC), and other local facilities, where pioneering circular technologies—such as the extraction of high-value compounds from agri-food waste—were showcased in action. These demos highlighted the project's success in turning waste into resources and demonstrated its strong potential for replicability and scalability.
On the second day, the focus expanded beyond Agro2Circular. EURADA had the pleasure of coordinating a dedicated session to introduce the LOOP Cluster, a bottom-up collaboration platform bringing together Agro2Circular and its sister projects: Circular Foam, EcoeFISHent, and FRONTSH1P — all EU-funded initiatives under the same EU Green Deal Call, which aimed to demonstrate systemic solutions for the territorial deployment of circular economy, This session served as a launchpad for upcoming common Manifesto on joint recommendations, aimed at influencing future policy and advancing systemic change across regions. These joint insights will be made publicly available in the coming months.
The gathering also provided space for cross-project exchange. Partners from Bio2Reg, another initiative working at the intersection of circular economy and bioeconomy, shared their key findings. Together, EURADA and Bio2Reg delivered critical political and financial recommendations, emphasizing the need for supportive frameworks to unlock the full potential of circular and bio-based innovations at the regional level.
Throughout the event, EURADA reaffirmed its commitment to fostering collaboration, supporting knowledge transfer, and shaping policy environments that enable sustainable regional transformation. As Agro2Circular nears its conclusion, the momentum generated continues to fuel the broader mission of a circular future—where innovation, partnership, and impact go hand in hand.
