Digital Europe is the new funding programme entirely dedicated to digital transformation for the period 2021-2027. With a budget of EUR 7.588 billion, the programme aims to increase and maximize the benefits of digital transformation for all EU citizens, public administrations and businesses. The Digital Europe programme will contribute to supporting the Union’s recovery, which was dramatically hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The goal is to implement public intervention in support of rapidly evolving technology sectors such as advanced computing, data management, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. The adoption of an EU-wide programme is needed not only to plan and finance joint actions, but also to ensure that the benefits of new digital technologies are fully shared across Europe.
The programme will be implemented through multi-annual work programmes, which will define the criteria for access to funding. Grants under the programme may cover up to 100% of the eligible costs.
