Congratulations to our member Gabrovo Municipality on winning the EER 2021

Congratulations to the winners of the European Entrepreneurial Region (EER) award, from the Committee of the Regions. This is one of the most prestigious European awards to recognize  local and regional administration  with effective strategies to support entrepreneurship and SMEs. EURADA is one of the members of the jury.

The 2021-22 merged version is centered around the theme “Entrepreneurship for a Sustainable Recovery”. The winners were the Gabrovo Municipality (Bulgaria) and five other regions. Helsinki-Uusimaa region (Finland), Castelo Branco Municipality (Portugal), Madrid Region (Spain), Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region (France), and Silesia Voivodeship (Poland).

Since 2011 many members of EURADA has been awarded with the EER. The EER is a project that identifies and rewards EU regions which show an outstanding and innovative entrepreneurial #PolicyStrategy. This year we are especially proud to have again one of our members among the winners. The municipality of Gabrovo has being for many years the entity leading the economic development of its territory. Their activities are a model for the rest of the public administrations in Europe. Gabrovo is partnering frequently with other public administrations to share experiences.  

The Municipality have a good example of cooperation with the Technical University to facilitate talent attraction and applied research spillovers  This municipality has establish a common vision for research and innovation and its mart specialisation strategy. In the next years we will learn how the Regional Innovaton Center Ambitious Gabrovo evolves to support local companies. We are anticipating how this municipality could serve as a model for other local authorities in Europe.
