Making the Agri-Food Sector Circular

EURADA, together with ICONS, is organising the "Making the Agri-Food Sector Circular" online event on the 6th of October. A special occassion to showcase some of the main European funded projects focus on the ambitious goals of the Green Deal, towards a circular economy in the agri-food sector.

The illusion of an ever-increasing economic growth built on unlimited resource consumption has long been severely questioned. As of this year, the Club of Rome's famous report "The Limits to Growth" dates back five decades. However, the need to transition from a linear- towards a circular economy has been increasingly reflected by policy makers around the world in recent years. On the European level, this realisation has mainly been concretised in the Circular Economy Action Plan(s), in turn part of the European Green Deal. To achieve the ambitious goals of the Green Deal, the Horizon 2020 European Green Deal call funded 73 projects with €1 billion, many with the specific task of demonstrating circular systemic solutions. One area targeted by these actions is the European agri-food sector, which faces many and diverse challenges to which no single and simple answer exists. However, not least the COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced the need to transition towards sustainable, circular food systems. 

In this 90-minutes webinar, six Green Deal projects will present their approaches and solutions to two of the biggest problems facing the agri-food sector: greenhouse gas emissions and food losses and waste: ClieNFarms, ENOUGH, SISTERS, ZeroW, Agro2Circular, and FRONTSH1P.
Each will 'pitch' their project during brief 10-minutes presentations, preceded by a short introduction and followed by a Q&A session and roundtable discussion.
