The aim of the action, as originally planned and implemented for the second time after the pilot operation in 2020, is the contact the students of the Attica Region with Science, Research and Innovation in the places where they are developed and taught, such as Academic and Research Institutions. The action is implemented through the co-financing of the Attica PEP, the European Regional Development Fund and the NSRF.
On the occasion of the launch of the programme, G. Patoulis noted:
"We will continue to vigorously pursue other developmental initiatives. Attending a special programme of courses at universities will provide children with valuable experience and can also mark their future educational path. The Attica Region, through the Children's University, the Innovation Centre has created collaborations with universities and research institutions, implementing an integrated strategy of smart specialisation, strengthening the networking of the world of entrepreneurship and start-ups with the bodies that produce. innovation and encouraging the dissemination of knowledge, for the benefit of all citizens".
The first day of the "Children's University":
The first day started with the registration of students from five sections of the Study Programme: 'P1 - Basic Education Students' and four sections of the Study Programme: 'P2 - High School Students', who then attended the first lesson of the Thematic Unit of their section, depending on the programme that has been drawn up.
The courses of the Thematic Modules: "Ask a Scientist" and "In the Role of a Nuclear Scientist", were held at the premises of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, while the Thematic Module: "Astronomy to Go!" was held at the National Observatory of Athens.
The enthusiastic participation and response of parents and guardians to the initiative were excellent and gives us strength for the continuation of the Action.
