The ICT-Tourism Cluster of Catalonia is born, made up of 24 companies and agents with a turnover of 253 million euros

A major step for the ICT sector and tourism competitiveness in Catalonia, with the implementation of the ICT-Tourism Cluster, supported by one of our members, ACCIO (Agency for Business Competitiveness of Catalonia).

As with many of the initiatives boosted by development agencies, the aim of the ICT-Tourism Cluster, promoted by the Department of Enterprise and Employment is to generate generate value by creating a pilot programme to help companies in the sector develop strategies to create economic, social and environmental value.

Last Monday, the inauguration of the cluster took place with the Minister of Enterprise and Employment, Roger Torrent i Ramió, presenting the project, accompanied by the 24 companies and agents of the sector that make up the new entity. The aim of the new cluster, promoted by the Department of Enterprise and Employment through ACCIÓ and the Directorate General for Tourism, is to improve the competitiveness of companies in the sector, boost their internationalisation, attract talent and accelerate the incorporation of new technologies, as well as making Catalonia a benchmark in tourism technology.  Torrent highlighted that "the cluster is the result of public-private collaboration resulting from the hybridisation of businesses in the fields of tourism and ICT, a market niche with a high growth potential".

There is no doubt that digitalisation is key to competitiveness for companies and is a priority to develop, as it is a fundamental element in the transformation of the production model. Development agencies' efforts are focus in helping the sectors during this transition.
