The SmartMOVE project Kick-off-meeting took place on 1 June 2022, where project partners reviewed the set tasks and goals, followed by detailed presentations of individual activities. The Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region (RRA LUR) has started implementing the activities aimed at raising awareness of the importance of sustainable mobility between employers and employees.
Slovenia’s capital city of Ljubljana is the most important destination in daily migration flows within the country. As Ljubljana provides over 220,000 jobs, over a quarter of all jobs in Slovenia, more than 120,000 people drive to Ljubljana daily from other places. The city is then becoming an area with the heaviest traffic and a space with the greatest negative externalities of mobility in the country, indicating structural challenges relating to sustainable mobility in Slovenia that the proposed project addresses directly.
The central objective of the project is to limit the negative environmental externalities that result from non-sustainable forms of mobility, to which the project contributes by creating mobility plans aiming to manage sustainable mobility on locations with heavy traffic and improve sustainable mobility management in Slovenia.
Expected project results:
- Raising awareness of the importance of sustainable mobility between employers and employees and preparing the process for obtaining a special certificate for sustainable mobility.
- Designing a methodology and development of sustainability plans for organizations that employ a larger number of people and are located on main mobility hubs.
- Establishing a pilot sustainable mobility solution for transport to LUR with dynamic collective passenger transport.
- Preparing recommendations for strategic orientations of the competent bodies of the Republic of Slovenia in the field of sustainable mobility and proposals for the improvement and upgrading of the existing Integrated Transport Strategy of the Ljubljana Urban Region.
