The congress, the biggest in its field, is a cornerstone and driver for urban innovation inviting over 25 thousand representatives from all over the world to work on a better future for all. EURADA, as a proud project partner of the PROTECT project, participated in the Open Innovation Procurement Challenges session. Here, different entities presented their demands enshrined into projects that will result in open calls for solutions not yet on the market.
In PROTECT’s case, this focuses on innovative strategies aimed at combating the challenges posed by climate change using Earth Observation technology. This Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) call aims to boost the uptake and use of climate services by public authorities that are consequently grouped into buyers’ groups on four climate challenges:
- Predicting Floods.
- Climate resilience Water solutions.
- Prediction and prevention of Fires.
- Sustainable and resilient infrastructures and neighbourhoods in urban and rural areas.
The open call has a funding volume of up to €19 million and remains open until the 28th of February 2024. For more information about the open call, we welcome you to consult the project’s website.
EURADA expresses its gratitude and congratulates our member and the event’s co-organiser ACCIÓ, for its instrumental role in facilitating the networking events and creating avenues for collaboration. We gratefully seized this opportunity to extend invitations to stakeholders interested in our open call. We encourage you to become a part of our community and sign up for the PROTECT Community Platform.
This platform is completely free and provides you with access to on-demand consulting services and the Knowledge Hub on Innovation Procurement. The Hub offers a range of policy briefs that cover procurement-related topics, including a brief that specifically focuses on Development Agencies. In addition to these policy briefs, the Knowledge Hub also provides information on Climate Services and Earth Observation (EO) data.
Reflecting on EURADA’s involvement in the Smart City Expo, Jip Lenssen, project officer at EURADA, expressed his enthusiasm: “The session’s engagement was inspiring, and the future of climate solutions promising. It is a pleasure seeing so many professionals coming together to ensure a successful future of climate solutions. Let’s keep innovating for a greener and better tomorrow”.
During the conference, the foundations for collaboration have been laid, and now is the time to follow up. Therefore, we are at your disposal for any inquiries about the PROTECT project, the PCP open call, or the Knowledge Hub. Please contact our colleagues Jerome Friedrichs and/or Jip Lenssen for more information.
