Our member, ADR Centru, prepared the Operational Programme (ROP) CENTRU 2021-2027, which has recently been approved by the Romanian Government and sent to the official information system (SFC) of the European Commission. The Agency for Regional Development Centru will negotiate with the Commission representatives in order to attract a budget of approximately €1.4 billion in non-reimbursable European funds for the development of the six counties of the Centru Region - Alba, Brașov, Covasna, Harghita, Mureș and Sibiu - financing both public authorities and private sector projects.
The overall objective of the ROP Centru 2021-2027 is to develop the Centru Region so that it becomes a cleaner region, attractive for its inhabitants and tourists, with a competitive economy based on knowledge and innovation in which care for the environment and the rational and sustainable use of resources are a priority.
It can be considered that they have met one of the most important objectives of the government programme, since the Government approved all eight Regional Operational Programmes of the development regions in Romania.
Now the Centre Region has the opportunity to define its future as foreseen in the local strategies without interference from the centre. They consider it a historical step, because this way local and regional decision-makers can take their fate into their own hands, knowing what the immediate needs and priorities of the communities they represent are.
